Alice In Wonderland Breaks Opening Day Records

Lewis Carroll’s classic character Alice goes back to Wonderland in Disney’s new 3D release. On it’s opening day alone, the film raked in an estimated $41 million in North America. This set a new opening day record for March and is said to be the highest opening for Tim Burton’s films. The film stars newcomer Mia Wasikowska as the grown-up Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts, and Matt Lucas as Twiddledee and Twiddledum. The movie also features the voices of Alan Rickman as the Blue Caterpillar, Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit and Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat.

Despite opening big, Alice in Wonderland yielded mixed reviews. Nonetheless, Burton gives Alice in Wonderland a fresh, new look that reintroduces one of Disney’s most beloved characters to new audiences of today.
