Hurt Locker wins Writers Guild Awards

The Writers Guild of America honored the screenplay by Mark Boal “The Hurt Locker” with the award for original screenplay in the 62nd Writers Guild Awards. Also nominated for an Academy Award, “The Hurt Locker” is a drama about soldiers in Iraq. In his acceptance speech, Boal thanked the American soldiers in Iraq.

Also awarded were Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner for their adapted screenplay “Up in the Air” which starred George Clooney. Besides the honor bestowed to them by the WGA, Reitman and Turner also won the Golden Globe for the same screenplay. They are also in the running for an Oscar.
