Lacey Brown bids the Idol stage farewell

After the nationwide vote, 24-year-old Lacey Brown was the first American Idol finalist sent home.  Brown found herself at the bottom two with her roommate, Paige Miles.  Although the nights broadcast revealed a new twist to the “judges’ save”, Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell opted not to grant her a pass to the next level of competition.

The Judges’ Save was introduced last season and is meant to give eliminated idols whom the judges deem worthy of a second chance an opportunity to sing another day. This year, the twist is that the bottom-ranked singer gets to showcase his or her talents by singing a previously sung song in competition. Last season, they were made to sing the song that landed them at the bottom.  For Lacey, even though she sang her heart out with Brandi Carlisle’s ‘The Story’, which garnered her rave reviews last week, it was not enough to convince the judges to save her.
