South Korean skater Yu-Na Kim broke her own scoring record to seal the deal for the Olympic Gold Medal in Vancouver’s Winter Olympics. Her record-breaking win pushes her to the annals of Olympic history. Her routine was not only technically challenging, but also marked with perfection. NBC Commentator Sandra Bezic claimed that Kim’s routine was “…the best routine I’ve ever seen in Olympic competition”.

Despite garnering only the bronze medal, the story that really captured the hearts of many skating fans worldwide was that of Joannie Rochette, who skated through the heartbreaking sudden death of her mother just days before the Olympic competition. Rochette’s win gave Canada it’s first medal in women’s singles skating.
