After attending the wake Thursday of slain New York police officer Jonathan Diller, former President Donald Trump expressed outrage over the killing and used the opportunity to tout his position on the need to curb crime.

“What happened is such a sad, sad event — such a horrible thing and it’s happening all too often and we’re just not going to let it happen,” Trump said to cameras outside of the Massapequa Funeral Home after the wake, flanked by about a dozen police officers.
